EXTRA ACTIVITY (SCIENCE)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Read and write the next definitions. (do it in a piece of paper if you don´t have your notebook)
2. Check out this video of circulatory system.
3. Write with your own words what you learned about the video.

Circulation: movement of blood through the circulatory system to transport nutrients, oxygen and waste.
Heart: muscular organ responsible for pumping blood throughout the blood vessels.
Blood vessels: tubes that transport blood.
Blood: red liquid that transports substances throughout your body.
Artery: blood vessel that carry blood away from the heart to other organs.
Veins: blood vessel that carry blood to the heart.
Capillary: smallest blood vessel that connect arteries to veins.

DIEGO RIVERA (1886-1957)



1886 - Diego Rivera was born in Guanajuato, Mexico.
At the age of two, before Diego was even able to read, his father set up a studio for him.
The family lived in Guanajuato until 1892, when they moved to Mexico City. At the young age of 10, Diego decided he wanted to become an artist.

1896 – Diego Rivera enters evening art course at the Academy of San Carlos.

1929 - Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo were married on August 21st.

1957 - Diego Rivera dies of heart failure in his San Angel studio.
He is buried in the Rotonda de los Hombres Ilustres at the pantheon of Dolores, Mexico City.

ART PROJECT: Make an "alebrije" and bring it on Wednesday Oct 27th to display.

You can use these materials to make your alebrije: clay, paper, tape, paint, plastic, card board, unicel, tooth sticks, little pieces of wood, etc.
Don´t try to make an alebrije out of wood, remember the craftman that do alebrijes take months to finish one.

THESE ARE SOME PICTURES OF EXAMPLES OF ALEBRIJES.
REMEMBER: These are only ideas for you to make the alebrije, don´t try to do exactly the same :) Your alebrije has to be original, creative, and unique.

Some special characteristics of "alebrijes" are: unusual creatures, very colorful, creative ideas, etc.
